Marshall Point Lighthouse
Sharing the beauty of Maine Lighthouses
Marshall Point Lighthouse is located on a scenic point where views of the open ocean filled with lobster
traps abound. Great place to eat Maine lobster bought from a nearby store.
Marshall Point Lighthouse, where scenes from a famous movie starring Tom Hanks were filmed, is a
pleasure to visit. Port Clyde is a great little town and couldn’t be set on a more scenic portion of the
Maine coast. We stopped at a small country store on the way to the lighthouse and bought steamed
Maine lobsters for our picnic lunch. We could not believe how cheap the lobsters were! Where we
are from, Maine lobsters cost a fortune. So lobster is not something we eat throughout the year until
we visit Maine. Here we were, sitting at a picnic table on the grounds of a famous lighthouse, looking
out over the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, eating fresh Maine lobster on a beautiful summer day. And
the ocean was filled with lobster traps; perhaps one of them was used to catch ours.
