| This light house sits in a spectacular location. The white wood walkway leading to the light house adds to the charm of this Maine treasure. The walkway makes getting to the light house easy enough, and the view from the light house at the end of it is incredible. The cold, oxygen rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean are just feet away. The fresh smell of the summer air and the ocean water relax and calm the spirit. Not far away is the quaint village of Port Clyde, which has en excellent little general store where a picnic sandwich and drink can be purchased on the way to the light house. The flowers and granite ledges surrounding this rocky beach are worth exploring. A Maine vacation would not be complete without a visit to this light house, where scenes in the movie Forrest Gump were shot. A small museum and gift shop are directly behind the point where this digital photo was taken. Take time to visit the gift shop and explore the history of the light house and Port Clyde, Maine. |
