Nubble lighthouse was the first lighthouse we visited in Maine. It was the first planned stop of our New
England travel itinerary. Having never planned a New England vacation before, this lighthouse was highly
recommended by all the New England travel books we read. The scene here is fabulous. At Christmas
time, the lighthouse is decorated for the season, photographs of which are included in every New
England travel publication imaginable – and for very good reason. In the future, we plan to schedule a
New England vacation during Christmas so we can see the scene for ourselves. During our summer visit,
the lighthouse was visible from miles away as we drove on our way to the point. To us, this lighthouse
visit officially started our New England vacation.
