| This digital photo highlights the very best Maine has to offer. This light house sits atop a prominent granite ledge and overlooks the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This picture was taken early in the morning soon after my wife and I entered Maine. What a glorious start to our vacation! The fresh smell of the ocean water was incredible. Upon cruising into Portland, we bought a coffee from a quaint carryout market on the way, and leisurely drove to the park in which this wonderful light house sits, and sat on a park bench drinking coffee and enjoying the ocean view. There was not a cloud in the sky and the summer smell of the ocean water was fresh and relaxing. We watched the ocean waves crash over the granite rocks, enjoying the sound as it nearly lulled us to sleep. The wild beach flowers (roses) were beautiful. These wonderful flower bushes surrounded the entire walkway, obscuring the steep granite rocks that are the cause of so many shipwrecks along the coast of Maine. It is easy to understand why famous Maine authors and artists visit this location for inspiration and relaxation. For the same reasons my wife and I could have stayed here for hours. It’s unfortunate this digital photo can’t fully convey how beautiful this Maine light house location is, but perhaps it will inspire you to take your own Maine vacation and experience its beauty firsthand. |
