| While this digital photo does not include the lighthouse, I thought it worthy of adding to the collection. We were fortunate enough to observe the colors of the sunset on this fine Maine summer day. Maine's scenery makes for ideal, almost surreal, sunsets. It is hard for the mind to fully grasp the visual impact of everything it is taking in. The breakwater consists of nearly a mile of huge pink granite stones harvested from Maine, and who knows how deeply they are stacked in order to reach the ocean floor. A beautiful lighthouse behind you by which sailboats are calmly cruising; the awesome Camden hills just up the Maine coast in front of you; and the Owls Head peninsula behind you showing off its own impressive lighthouse. The Maine wildlife was flying above and swimming in the waters that were nearly 360 degrees around us. And all this beauty was saturated with the pastel colors of a beautiful Maine sunset. The impact of these sights and the effect they had on the soul cannot be overstated. |
