Spring Point Lighthouse is a small spark plug style lighthouse that sits at the end of a long breakwater. It is situated in a small, quiet park in South Portland, Maine. We spent a couple of hours here watching boats cruise in and out of the harbor. Some boats were cruise ships sailing from Portland and others were just casually cruising along the coast, enjoying the warmth and sunshine. The wakes created by the ships cruising by were neat to see. It would take them awhile, but they would slowly work there way to the end of the breakwater and crash into its large stones. All manner of cruises are available from Portland. While staying in this area, we have often talked about taking a sunset cruise or even an island cruise. But we’ve yet to schedule one. Another great place to watch boats cruising around Casco Bay is the Eastern Promenade, which can be seen across the bay from this lighthouse. Once we saw a huge cruise ship set sail for Nova Scotia. Compared to the other ships cruising around the bay, that ship was enormous!
