| This digital photo was taken near the end of the long, granite walkway leading to the light house. We could not have been blessed with a better day of weather while on vacation in Maine. The sky was beautiful blue and filled with white puffy clouds, the ocean was filled with a rich summer smell that can only be experienced on the Maine coast, and numerous boats were enjoying a leisurely cruise in and out of the harbor. The fresh air, fresh ocean water smell, bright sunshine, comfortable breeze, and scenic surroundings made the experience seem almost surreal. Notice the fort just to the left of the light house. Several old civil war-era forts dot Casco Bay and its islands. The coast of Maine is lined with numerous small islands, many of which are reachable by ferry or mail boat. This series of digital photos plainly shows why we love vacations in Maine. |
