| When you are descending the stone walkway to West Quoddy Head Light House from the parking area, you can't imagine a prettier place in Maine. Th sun is warm and yet the cool Maine summer air is comfortable. The fresh ocean air is filled with the smell of wildflowers and seawater. The seawater on the Maine coast has a fresh, unique smell that is most prominent in the summer months. Eagles and other birds fly overhead and whales and seals can be seen in the oxygen-rich waters of the Bay of Fundy over which the light house stands guard. The candy-striped light house sits stop a steep cliff that drops deep below into the sea. A Maine vacation is made complete by a visit to this calm and relaxing light house location. |
