Maine Light Houses - West Quoddy Head Light House Lubec Maine

This digital photo of West Quoddy Head Light House was taken in the park sitting area near
the light house. You have probably seen this fine Maine light house in photographs at
camera shops and perhaps in books or on television. It's red and white candy-striped paint
job is very unique, making it one of the most recognizable light houses in Maine, and
perhaps the entire United States. There is a picnic table in this area where you can sit and
watch the strong currents of the cold, deep waters of the Bay of Fundy or watch eagles circle
overhead. The fresh air and fragrant wildflowers dazzle you with their beauty and scent. And
the bold, granite cliffs on which this light house is located demonstrate why this light house
is needed. Sea travel along this portion of the coast of Maine would not be safe without the
warnings provided by this grand old light house.
