| This digital photo of West Quoddy Head Light House was taken in another park sitting area near the light house. In the background to the right you can see the northern coast of Maine And further to the right, not seen in this view, you can see across the ocean to Campobello Island and Grand Manaan Island, both of which are in New Brunswick, Canada. The light house can be seen for miles around because of its elevation. This portion of the Maine coast is like traveling back in time. There are no restaurants or stores and the towns are small and quaint. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm and the people are friendly. But they are also somewhat leery of people not from Maine, whom Mainers refer to as being "from away" or "flatlanders". But no worries, the area is hospitable to those vacationing in Maine and you will feel very welcome. |
